Episode 019 - Marketing March Part 3

This episode is for those people who…

  • Want to feel solid in knowing how to get people to attend your events
  • Want to hear the best ways to attract people to your events
  • Want to see results in their marketing efforts quickly and easily

It starts with you and the perceived value that your audience will receive from your events. People have so little time and so many alternatives, what value add are you offering?

Remember that you are competing with a lot of people online now who may be offering similar advice that you are for little to no charge. So, factor this is when you’re creating your valuable offering.

Let them know what they will receive from taking the time to attend and how it will change their lives for the better.

Know and understand what their pain is. When people know that you care about their pain and that you have moved through it to solve it for yourself and others, they will be more likely to come to you.

Tips:

  • Invite people to join you, make the invitation personal and warmly welcome people as they arrive
  • Provide great quality and value
  • Communicate in various ways, people often need to see it a minimum of 6 times
  • Engage others to assist you in promoting your events as well

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Marketing is about them – it’s not about you.

Episode 018 - Marketing March Part 2

This episode is for those people who

  • Want to attract clients who they enjoy working with and who rave about them

  • Want to hear their phone ringing off the hook with referrals

  • Want to see their client list grow and expand

To attract your ideal client, you need to know who they are, where they are and what their biggest pain is that you can solve for them. The process outlined below is something that I do only with my clients and I’m going to gift it to all of you.

Here is what you’ll do:

Spend some time thinking about the type of people you want to help.  Usually, you start by wanting to help people who are one of the following:

1.    You, a few years ago.

2.    A friend or family member that you know needs your help.

By now, you’ve been able to help at least one person.  Think about this experience and then list all of the things, experiences, AHA moments that you enjoy about working with this one person.

1.    What did you really enjoy working with them on or through?

2.    What did you help them with that you really enjoyed?

3.    How did you transform their life?

Now that you’ve done some reflective thinking, think of some people who you believe would be an ideal client.  This may be a friend or work colleague.  Invite him or her for coffee, your treat.  This is important you need to pay the bill as they are helping you.

Next: Go out and talk to people! Download the the steps to Create Your Ideal Client document, edit it to make it yours and then go interview people.

Ask them the questions as they relate to what you do. You can bring this sheet with you to your meeting and fill it out with them:

After you've talk to several people, take the time to narrow it down:

Now that you’ve thought generally about your Ideal Client, you are going to narrow your first target audience down further.

Here’s the most important point here, if you market to everyone, you’ll sell to no one.

Every marketing expert I’ve listened to over the past five years will tell you that the “riches are in the niches” so dive deep and you’ll attract clients you love and who love you.

This is the secret to making money in your business.

Take Action:

Download the steps to Create Your Ideal Client document. Go through it in detail to determine who your ideal client is.

Episode 017 - Marketing March Part 1

This episode is for those people who

  • Want to feel solid they are using the best marketing tools to connect to their audience
  • Want to hear the best ways to connect with their target audience
  • Want to see results in their marketing efforts quickly and easily

It's a simple process:

With all marketing efforts, you need to start with why – why are you doing what you’re doing? What is it that will move you forward in your business every day? What is going to get you out of bed every day?

Then know who you’re talking to - who is your ideal client?

Then know how much time, money and effort you have to spend

People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.
— Simon Sinek, Start With Why

Seth Godin, Purple Cow asks "what makes you remarkable?"

Action: Answer these questions. Go inside and dig deeply.

What's your why?

What makes you remarkable?

Being as specific and focused as possible will make it easier for you

You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.
— Maya Angelou

Marketing Tips:

Marketing is about them – it’s not about you.

Everyone else is taken, so be the best you that you can be.

Go out and talk to people. Connect with them. Ask them questions.

In a crowded marketplace, fitting in is a failure. In a busy marketplace, not standing out is the same as being invisible.
— Seth Godin

Episode 016 - Indulgence & Self Care

This is a short episode about Indulgence and self care,  the entrepreneurial way.

Sherri & Suzanne spent the day at Hockley Valley Resort & Spa. We recorded this podcast episode in our spa robes before we had a lovely lunch and a pedicure. It was a blissful day with the sun shining as we filled our souls and pampered our bodies.

Sherri reminded us about the importance of self care as she recounted the Stephen Covey story of sharpening the saw from the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Take time to relax and recharge your batteries, do what you love, pamper and indulge yourself. As you do this, you will thrive in your life and your business.

Plan for time every week to indulge yourself and sharpen your saw. You'll have more energy to give to others when you do. What actions will you take this week?

Being an entrepreneur is the deepest personal work you will ever do and the most rewarding work you will ever do.

Episode 015 - Lasting Impressions

This episode is for those people who...

  • want to create deep, connected, meaningful relationships with clients
  • want to hear from raving fans
  • want to know how to spot a connection and then create it

Begin thinking strategically – start with the end in mind. For networking, set your intention for the meeting. Know who do you want to meet, how many people you want to connect with and how you want them to remember you.

People won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
— John C. Maxwell

So, focus on them. Listen, be curious. Ask questions.

So many people arrive at a networking meeting concerned about how their message and what will they say. When you speak from the heart about your passion, then people will lean in and remember you. Ask questions, be genuinely interested in the other person.

After you meet them, you will deepen the impression you created by following up. After all, the fortune is in the follow up. According to the most recent survey by SalesForce, a whopping 85% of people DON'T follow up.  You can read more in the Salesforce survey.

Episode 014 - First Impressions

Thank you Pinkpreneurs Executive Director, Teresa Scaini of Anchor Your Success for your fabulous question.

This episode is for those people who

Want to create deep, connected, meaningful relationships with clients

Want to hear from raving fans

Know how to spot a connection and then create it

As this is Valentine's Week, we wanted to include how to have more intimate rapport with people. This is a two part series. This week we start with First Impressions. Next week, we'll discuss Lasting Impressions.

Communication is most effective when it’s person to person

We use words, tone, body language to effectively communicate

First impressions are made in just seconds from when you meet someone for the first time. I’ve heard various statistics from under 7 seconds when they first see you, to under 30 seconds. Whatever the statistic you’ve heard, it’s quick and often running out of your awareness.

Let’s start with communication

Professor Albert Mehrabian's communications model

7% of message pertaining to feelings and attitudes is in the words that are spoken or written

38% of message pertaining to feelings and attitudes is paralinguistic (the way that the words are said).

55% of message pertaining to feelings and attitudes is in facial expression.

Watch Amy Cuddy's TED Talk – Your body language shapes who you are.

Your posture can get you in to a better state of mind when you’re walking into a meeting, an interview, a networking meeting.

Stand in a power pose for two minutes. What power theme song will you add in?

Quote:

“You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Will Rogers,

Episode 012 - The Power of Clarity

This episode is for those people who…

  • Want to wrap their hands around the key for their business
  • Want to hear how to be crystal clear about their direction
  • Have their eyes open to how to create clarity in their life and business

Here's what the experts are saying about Clarity:

The definition of clarity in the Merriam Webster Dictionary is "The quality or state of being clear"

“A lack of clarity could put the brakes on any journey to success.”  Steve Maraboli, Speaker & Author of Raise Your Mind

When you have clarity, you'll find that opportunities are so much easier to spot.

If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.
— Sir Richard Branson
More important that the quest for certainty is the quest for Clarity.

Episode 011 - The Power of Belief

This episode is for those people who...

  • Are searching for a solid foundation to move towards and grow their business
  • Want to hear what successful leaders and entrepreneurs are doing
  • Looking for the best way to success

Here is what the experts say about the Power of Belief:

Here's an article from Entrepreneur where he was talking about the Power of Belief and how successful people are successful because they believe in themselves and their ability.

Your success it starts with your thoughts and what you believe.

Action:

Think about your a specific success that you've had in your past. Go back and think about what you believed about the situation before it happened. Sometimes people have a vision of it happening, some feel it and some hear it. Now that you know what you thought before a previous success, how can you do that again?

Another example of the Power of Belief is the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Sherri reads this every year. If you haven't read it yet, do it today.

If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.
— Henry Ford

As you think about your business, your career, your life, what is it that you want to be, have or do? Who do you want to be, have or do? Then as you think about this, belief is required.

You don’t become what you want, you become what you believe.
— Oprah Winfrey

Episode 010 - The Power of Coaching

This week's episode is for those people who…

  • Are seeking answers on how to wrap their hands around the best way to grow their business
  • Have been listening to everyone’s opinion and are confused
  • Want to cut through all the rhetoric to see the best option for them

Did you know that every champion has a coach or a mentor?

This week's episode talks about the multiple ways to grow your business.

Time | Cost | Quality Triangle

You can only have two of these three.

  • It will be cheap and cheerful and quick, but low quality
  • It will be high quality and low cost, but it will take you a long time
  • It will be quick and have high quality for a cost – or an investment

If you have another way to pay your bills and the time to invest, then take the time to grow your business on your own, you’ll find lots of advice on the internet, some of it conflicting and you’ll need to discern which is best for you.

If you don't have the luxury of time, then find the coach you respect, someone who is making money and will offer you great value for your investment.

While you can do it on your own, you can accomplish much more when you work with a coach.

Consistent feedback from my clients is that they have seen exponential growth in their business when they work with me. This is the benefit of coaching.

A coach is someone who tells you what you don’t want to hear, who has you see what you don’t want to see, so you can be who you have always known you could be.
— Tom Landry, NFL Coach (1924-2000)
